A friend of mine on Facebook made a comment about "Classless, obnoxious Texas Longhorn fans". It got me to thinkin'. I have lived in multiple parts of the country and being a huge sports fan, I have had the pleasure/displeasure of numerous "fans" and their ummm........attitudes and antics in support(?) of their teams. My findings? Well here it goes, my following list are what I feel are the absolute worst so-called "fans" in all sports.
1. New York Yankees
1.(a) Texas Longhorns
Well, there's my list. Why so short? Let me put it to you this way. If you do the math, let's say with music that changed the whole landscape of things the list would look like this:
1. Elvis Presley
1.(a) The Beatles
In applying this to fandome, my list has the 2 leading culprits in breeding the most arrogant, bandwagoning, clueless fans in all sports. I enjoy nothing more than watching these 2 teams lose because it warms my heart to see the fans suffer endless pain and agony. You know what I mean. Here let me help you with my sure-fire list of things to watch for when the teams in question do lose. Feel free to use it as a checklist.
1. Call centers for 1-800-I'magonnajumpoffacliff become jammed because these "fans" just can't cope with the impending doom that is sure to follow. Self-induced of course for all their constant "we are 10-0! the National Title/World Series is ours for sure" crap we endure all year long.
2. Productivity at work suffers because some go as far as to not show up due to their mental breakdown, which will comeforth when we see them and unleash our happiness at their misery.
3. "The refs were pathetic", "inuries cost us", "if he woulda caught it, shoulda caught it, mighta caught it, we woulda won".
4. All team apparel becomes covere up or vanishes entirely, like we won't notice.
Just a small list that could go on forever, you get the idea. So, while we do have to endure these insufferable boobs from time to time, just keep this in mind; Their teams will lose and we will surely be there to "remind" them of that fact and no "alien anal probe abduction" story will let them off the hook anytime soon.

Heaven Doesn't Take VISA
Ok, so here goes ticking off some people. Had the (dis)pleasure of attending my younger son's varsity football game last week. We are a smallish 2A school on the edge of a fairly large town. One of our non-district foes was a private Christian school. Anyhow, after they thoroughly punished us, some questionable things happened during and after said game. Now my blog here is only being done due to what transpired on these occasions. First off, the superintendent of said school, Arbor Academy, came to the visitors sidelines and offered us seating in the larger home stands. This offer was due to lack of seating for us and our sizeable band. This was a kind offer, so we accepted. I mean, a normal foe would be different, but since this was a "Christian" school we thought nothing of it. BAD IDEA! About halfway through the first quarter, the ref threw a flag and penalized us for "holding". No big deal.....for us anyway. A "gentleman" stood up about 10 feet from me and faced our section and yelled "HOLDING! ON YOU GUYS!" not only once , but twice. With the red face he had I thought he was gonna have a stroke. To which one of our fans told him to "sit down". Then after more words, another fan told him to "sit down #%$#@hole". To which he replied, "you can't call me names because I am a christian". Now due to the seating, our cheerleaders had to cheer in front of us, which put them behind Arbor Academy's football team. At halftime, one of the cheerleaders came into the stands to talk to her mother who was seated next to me. Apparently one of the players had expressed his wish for the "flyer" of the squad to "break her neck" during on of the routines. Furthering the matter, during the first half you could see several players "bumping" around these ladies during their cheering. It got to the point that our admin staff was on the field during the second half to provide a buffer for said cheerleaders from the players. I woulda chalked it up in the "now I've seen it all file", but noooooooooooo. The media printed how the fans from Arbor Academy were "prasing God" and the like for a victory over a larger public school, and that they couldn't understand how public school fans could be so rude. REALLY? Ok, this school is part of a MEGA Church here in Amarillo (Trinity Fellowship). Just looking at the complex you can see millions and millions of dollars. This place just smells like money. And the fans act it too. What hacks me is the presumed superiority these people believe they have because they got the bucks to put their kids there. I'm here to tell ya different. Sending your kids to a private christian school DOES NOT make you a Christian. It only means you can afford it. I get so fed up when people proclaim how Godlike they are while near the building, but will do body shots and swear like a criminal when they aren't. These boorish types act the part of snobs when around us average people. I am a Christian, but I also know I have a multitude of faults. This church needs to invest in mirrors. For when they are preaching about doing good works and witnessing to the masses, they can look into these mirrors to get started where they need to. They could take lessons from a smaller school like San Jacinto Academy. When we go play them in basketball, it is quite enjoyable, and the people are very friendly and personable. Oh, and they aren't located in a sprawling multiplex area called a church in a wealthier part of town. Now just to clear it up, the names of these places were used not from heresay, but from what we witnessed ourselves at the game mentioned. Not like I give a crap about being proper anyway.

What Our Elders Can Teach Us
Just saw a video clip on Facebook that just made my day. Some younger dork appeared to be talking smack to an elderly gentleman. Near as I could tell, the older man moved to the front of the bus to get away from this idiot. Now while they both were still talkin at each other, I guess the younger man went to the front and grabbed the older gentleman while he was sitting down. To my shock, the older man stood up and through some punches that woulda made Ali proud. He busted up the lip of the other idiot leaving him bloodied and stunned. Oh, and he never landed a punch in response. You can hear a voice just before the punch saying something like, "bust his white ass up". Shows stupidity among the young is still an affliction that apparently can only be beaten out of ya. Really, we must take care of our older generation, show some respect, be kind and................DUCK!

Like What You Say Matters
Just saw a brief line on MSN. Stated something to the effect of , "Brad Pitt's harsh words for BP and other celebrity quotes". Ok, do any of YOU actually care what celebs say? Is anyone actually influnced by what these pampered whinebags do? I'm sure there are some. What baffles me is that we have devolved into a society void of any coherent thought by so many people. I know I wake up and get on the PC to see what famous people say so I know how to live my life. I remember it wasn't that long ago that Bono from U2 was imploring people to give til it hurt for whatever cause he was promoting that week. Now, don't get me wrong, I am all for giving help where needed. I tend to raise an eyebrow though to someone who tries layin guilt on us and still gets upwards of 250.00 per ticket to see his band in concert. Really? How bout lowering the price so we have more to give your cause, oh wait, that would make sense. Nevermind. Anyhow, maybe we need to pay attention to the real needs around us instead of worrying what the rich and spoiled think. Ya know, like paying teachers more, getting more money for our security here at home, paying a big thanks to our current and past veterans. There are so many other ways to improve our surroundings and life instead of giving a rats ass bout what Brad Pitt thinks.

Getting the Facts Straight For Once.
How cool it was to see the documentary, "Metal: A Headbanger's Journey". Finally, someone had the original thought of producing a documentary about a subject that a good 90 percent of people all over misinterpret. Can't tell you how many times over the years some ignorant people slam something only because they don't "get it". Just like any number of subjects, you can name several I'm sure. The beauty of the Sam Dunn (A Canadian Anthropologist) feature takes you on a trip around the world to ex-lore not only the multiple sub-genres of metal, but the people, bands and all else which go along with it. As Mr. Dunn is a fan of Metal, he could have easily done a piece which showed only the positive sides which many people miss, but the darker side that make the pundits scream, "see! told you it was evil!". But the part that many people don't get is that Metal has its own sub-culture, usually made up of a lot of people who are devoted to a fault. We all remember those guys (and girls), you know, the "Stoners", the "Freaks", and all the other clever names. Mr. Dunn covers that end of it as well, dare I say, showing they (ok "we") are actually fairly coherent. Yea, lots of people go through the David Cassidy, Justin Beiber, Leif Garrett phase and move on. What makes Metal fans different, is that we never outgrow it. In fact, I know several who were saved by it when "normal" people turned their backs on them. The film is weel done and seeing it again reminded of just how good it is.

Tolerance Has Its Limits
Keep hearing bout this proposed mosque near Ground Zero and the controversy erupting over the so-called multi-million dollar mosque/muslim center. Yea, I may be just stating my opinion.......but I'm willing to bet I'm not alone. Does this country even care about anything anymore? The administration is it's usual mute self. Man, how so many people have short memories. Why don't we just lay down and let everybody else decide what's good for us? Oh, don't you dare take a stand against something such as the mosque----you would then be "intolerant" of a specific group and/or groups. Tolerance ain't got a thing to do with it. How about the rights of those families whose loved ones were "MURDERED" and maimed in the very same area? I'm sure they will be labeled as "understandibly emotional" for their opposition. Count on something else too, this "tolerance" some refer to has its limits. I have reached mine.

Priorities?
Yea, I'm a headbanger. So not surprising this is another music related post. Pete Steele's untimely death and what followed was curious to say the least. Just a passing note from MTV and other music related channels on the news. But can you blame them? We wouldn't wanna pre-empt any of those classy shows bout the ho's from the Jersey Shore or some other loser lookin for love amongst a group of attention grabbing sleaze bags (males and females alike). Can barely remember when MTV meant "Music Television" and not "Moron Theater".

Everything Dies
Seems that Pete Steele of Type O Negative has passed away. Truly sad for me being a huge fan. Got to see them open for Pantera several years back. While I have been to countless concerts and seen truly legendary frontmen, none could compare. Steele truly captivated his audience with his dark lyrics, sarcastic humor and deep baritone voice. Being 6' 7" didn't hurt either. Never saw so many female undergarments hitting a stage in all my life. Their music was realy bonecrushing, not for the faint hearted. They also did remakes which became cult classics. "Summer Breeze" and "Cinnamon Girl" have to rank among the best. While their music reflected the suffering of Pete on a personal level he always seemed to have that nasty sense of humor. Truly a sad day for me, he was one of a kind.

GA GA Garbage
It has become evident that so-called popular music lacks a certain something. Oh Yea, MUSIC! Ya know, the kind where you actually pick up an instrument and create something? Not this pre-programmed BS that is so prevalent nowadays. Don't get me started about Lady GaGa. Pleez, hasn't snyone noticed that Elton John did this same thing long ago? Difference being he could sing and write classy songs. Now, I'm not a big Elton fan (Metal being my choice), yet this is clearly a mutation. Going further, it's not even about the music to this mutant, more a continual onslaught of "discrimination" claims by the previously mentioned weapon of ass destruction. Electronic this, glossed over production, incessant computer generated beats. Hell, any moron can sit at a PC and create this sludge. Talent doesn't seem to matter anymore. You don't hear much about the years of toiling and touring just to MAYBE get a break. Just about the corporate machine spewing this crap and others like it. But, not to worry. Just because it's not on the front page doesn't mean it's not happening. It still is. That's where you find the REAL stuff. It's called ROCK and ROLL! 50+ years and still going strong. Have faith. Ga Ga and her (his?) brand of crap will go the route of Disco and vanish like a fart in the wind.

Seriously?
Ok, here we go. I was watching the Masters yesterday and the coverage made me cringe. We all have been inundated with the Toger Woods BS. First off, have we become such a pathetic society that we gotta keep hearing about his sexual escapades? Seems like we have become so enamored with others trials and tribulations. I for one could care less. Seems as though I keep hearing words to describe his ability to play golf with all thats going on his life such as "brave" and others so repulsive I won't go into it here. I find it truly offensive to hear adjectives placed upon someone who couldn't keep it in his pants, to make it sound like he's being heroic. Seriously? To me, it seems as though the only people that those words should be used to reference are our Veterans. Putting up with the BS because of the position you put yourself by whoring around does in no way make you "brave". Putting your ass on the line for your country does! To make matters worse now the phrase of the day seems to be "sexual addiction". Now we have everyone going to rehab for their inability to keep it zipped. Let's not take responsibility for putting ourselves in the position to get into trouble, we'll just tag it with a cute phrase so everyone can have sympathy. Uhhhh.......he's a GUY! That should say it all. He's a MARRIED guy who cheated, plain and simple. Now deal with it.
